Doug does an imitation of Rico, a person he works with to get Carrie to have sex with him. But then when Carrie wants him to do the voice again, Doug worries she doesn't want him anymore.
Carrie makes Doug give his boss a card for his 20 years with the company. Mr. Fisker thinks it is so funny that he makes Doug roast him at a banquet, and Doug worries about losing his job for making fun of his boss.
Doug decides he is too fat, and vows to lose 30 pounds.
Carrie decides she wants to go back to college after seeing her friends reaction when she tells them she never went.
Doug decides he can't take his car anymore and buys a new one against Carrie's wishes. IPS goes on strike a few days later, and Carrie is forced to work overtime to pay for it.
The IPS strike is still going so Doug gets a job substitute teaching at the school where his sister works.
Doug and Deacon are going insane from boredom during the strike. They get together with Arthur and start pulling stupid pranks on people to entertain themselves.
Doug and Carrie are arguing about who was the first one to tell each other "I love you". They think back to the day it happened, the day when Doug first met Carrie's family.
Doug and Carrie have to watch Deacon and Kelly's kids while they are out of town. When one of the kids sees them having sex, they have to find a way to keep him from saying anything.
Arthur starts working at Carrie's law-firm with her. Doug and Deacon are having a prank war.
Doug buys Carrie a camera for Christmas, but her office gives her a better one. Lou Ferrigno moves in next door.
Doug and Carrie try to go to a wedding but not have to stay.
Doug convinces his sister to go out with Carrie's boss so that he can go to his house to watch the Super Bowl on his high-def TV.
Doug makes Carrie tell him people she knows that she finds attractive, and she says Deacon. Deacon is having a birthday party at a paintball course and it turns into a war.
Doug finds Deacon out with another woman and Deacon makes him promise not to say anything. When Carrie finds out, she begins to question their marriage because Doug and her have different views on whether or not it is cheating.
Carrie reads an article about how couples sometimes substitute sex for communication and she makes Doug agree that they won't have sex for 3 weeks.
Doug lies to Carrie about having to work late so that he can play mud football with his friends. Doug gets sick and then Arthur makes him feel even worse for lying to Carrie.
Doug feels sorry for Arthur and lets him go to a bar instead of a dance at his senior center. When Carrie finds out she gives Doug full control of Arthur, and Doug realizes how hard it is to deal with him.
Doug finds out people at FedEx might be interested in him so he uses that to try to get his boss to give him more money. Carrie gets addicted to tanning cream after she agrees to put it on Lou while his wife is out of town.
Doug and Carrie go to a movie with Kelly while Deacon watches the kids. While at the movies, Carrie finds a co-worker who likes Kelly. Kelly decides to go on a date with him, and Deacon asks Doug to help him win his wife back.
Doug and Carrie go to visit Doug's parents at the airport while they are waiting for their flight. Doug's parents give Doug a living will to sign, but Doug is upset that they marked "do not resuscitate" on everything.
After a storm destroys their fence, Doug and Carrie's neighbors come over to try to convince them to let the fence stay down, so they can have a combined backyard. When Carrie doesn't like the idea, she rushes to build a new fence, which offends their neighbors. Then the Sackskys build a pool that overlooks their yard, and Carrie wants to sue.
Doug's uncle Stu asks him to get Danny a job at IPS and Doug doesn't want Danny working there. He gets Danny the interview but convinces Supervisor O'Boyle to not hire him, then Doug feels guilty about it.
Carrie starts to worry that she might be pregnant and it couldn't happen at a worse time. When Arthur finds out he tries to convince her to tell Doug and when she won't, he brings Doug to her.
Doug tells Carrie not to worry about the baby and he takes a second job to help store up money. When Carrie sees it is too much for Doug she decides she wants to help. In the end she loses the baby.
