Though deemed a series regular in Season 8, James Spader was contracted to appear in only a minimum of 15 episodes throughout this year. NBC is planning The Office spin-off that will follow Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) for a possible midseason 2013 release.
The actor/comedian would be taking his Dwight Schrute persona to his families beet farm and bed & breakfast. It will follow his family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together. The location has been featured on the show many times, including an episode where Jim and Pam visited Dwight at the B&B. Catherine Tate, one of the main candidates to replace Steve Carell on Season 8 of The Office is being brought back for a major recurring role as this current season continues on NBC.

NBC builds two nights of Halloween-themed programming as the final season debut of Chuck (Fridays, 8-9 p.m. ET) and the series premiere of new drama Grimm (Fridays, 9-10 p.m. ET) will begin on Friday, October 28. Likewise, Halloween-themed episodes of NBC's Thursday-night comedies - Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office, and Whitney -- will be telecast October 27 in recognition of the holiday.
