“"Don't Be Chucking That Out. You Might Need That Later" - Karl Pilkington”
April 8th, 2010
From its early days on satellite radio, The Ricky Gervais Show has held a very successful cult following made even the stronger by the outrageously absurd views on life presented by the often times monotone show co-host, Karl Pilkington. Joining Karl and guiding him through his many stories and words of wisdom are the shows creators Ricky Gervais (The Office) and Stephen Merchant (co-writer of The Office). Together these three create an environment that the listener just can't help but accept the logic being presented and laugh foolishly. The success of the show has been phenomenal and because of that success HBO has taken it upon itself to animated some of these lively conversations and turn them into a brightly colored, immensely enjoyable, hell of a good time.
The animated Ricky Gervais Show takes so much of what is loved about the podcasts and brings them into a new light with hilarious animated sequences that make these funny and ridiculous conversations all the more hysterical. Much of the show is centered on Karl Pilkington's insights to life and how he lives it. Many times these ideas lead to unbelievably funny outbursts from Gervais and Merchant. Listening to Karl's view on how to control overpopulation will leave one scratching their head and smiling at the same time. Just how would an injection revert someone's age from that of an elderly person to that of a small toddler? If you are not sure, Karl Pilkington will explain it. Are you seeking news around the world regarding monkeys? If you are, Karl can help keep you up to date in the side splitting segment entitled Monkey News.
The Ricky Gervais show is one of the most fun times you will have watching TV. It delivers genuine laughs that will have you repeating everything that you saw and heard for days. It's not a leap of faith to suggest that the show has very strong potential to become a huge fan favorite and take a place next to some of today's more well known and much talked about, animated shows. So, if you are in the mood for off the wall humor that leaves you in pain and begging for more, then The Ricky Gervais Show is just the type of entertainment you've been craving.
