The saga of Sookie Stackhouse is reaching bloody new heights in Season Two of the HBO hit vampire series. With the residents of Bon Temps coming under the control of the devious Maryann Forrester, it's up to the perky telepathic waitress (played by Anna Paquin), her blood-sucking soulmate Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and her shape-shifting boss Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) to stave off the threat.
A shocking murder outside Merlotte’s has Bon Temps reeling. Meanwhile, Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) relationship with Bill (Stephen Moyer) is tested when she learns about Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), and of his involvement in her uncle’s death. Sam (Sam Trammell) recalls a shape-shifting encounter he had with Maryann (Michelle Forbes) as a 17-year-old. Jason (Ryan Kwanten) gets a sudden windfall that allows him to pay for a leadership retreat with the Fellowship of the Sun. Two adversaries find themselves sharing a mysterious dungeon and, possibly, the same fate.
Sookie is forced to cope with Bill’s obligations to Jessica, as well as the romantic inconveniences the teen vampire’s presence creates. At the Light of Day leadership conference, Jason makes a favorable impression on its ambitious leaders, Steve (Michael McMillian) and Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp), though not on his jealous roommate Luke (Wes Brown). Maryann casts her spell on Merlotte’s patrons, and Sam proves helpless to stop the revelry.
When Sookie is attacked by a mysterious creature, Bill must enlist Eric’s (Alexander Skarsgård) help to save her. At the Light of Day retreat, Jason has second thoughts about the sect’s anti-vampire agenda, but Sarah and Steve counter his doubts with flattery and promises. After snapping at Tara (Rutina Wesley) and new employee Daphne (Ashley Jones), Sam decides to cut and run. A bored Jessica heads over to Merlotte’s, where a smitten Hoyt (Jim Parrack) falls under her spell. At another Maryann-hosted party, Tara finds her attraction to Eggs (Mehcad Brooks) interrupted by a swirling, aphrodisiac fog.
With Jessica in tow, Bill and Sookie head to Dallas to carry out Eric's vampire-reconnaissance mission--but a surprise awaits them at the airport. At the Light of Day Institute, Jason falls victim to a practical joke, but has the last laugh when the Newlins anoint him for a higher calling. Maryann throws Tara a birthday party at Sookie's, attracting much of Bon Temps to its Bacchanalian revelry. Sam postpones his departure from town to attend the bash, connecting with Daphne in the process. Having barely escaped Fangtasia, Lafayette finds himself reluctantly pulled back into Eric's orbit.
While in Dallas, Sookie connects with one of her own. Jason is rewarded for his hard work at the Light of Day boot camp. Eric and Bill bond over their past.
Jason is put in a position where he has to make a difficult physical and emotional decision, while a vampire from Bill's past resurfaces in Dallas. Sookie sets out on a perilous mission to locate Godric, an ancient and powerful vampire.
Sam finds himself in an unenviable predicament at the hands of Maryann and her minions. Hugo is imprisoned with Sookie who tries to communicate with Barry using her telepathic powers. Bill is held captive by the the stubborn Lorena. Jason attempts to sever his ties with the Fellowship of the Sun, but faces resistance from Steve and his enforcer Gabe.
Eric arrives to do his master's bidding on the eve of the Fellowship's lockdown surprising a captive Sookie. Sam makes a gruesome discovery at Merlotte's putting him in danger. Jessica and Hoyt find sex as everytime as the first time. Jason pays his debts to the vampires.
Eric gets hurt taking advantage of Sookies good nature and takes her for a ride. Sookie and Jason bond over their adventures. Lafayette and Lettie Mae try to save their kin from Maryann's clutches. In prison Sam tries to set himself free and avoid Maryann. Eric and his fellow vampires are floored by Godric decision to take the fall for their disasterous PR.
Bill, Sookie and Jason return to Bon Temps. Sam and Andy are lured back to Merlottes by Arlene and find refuge from bloodthirsty revellors. Bill finds traditional methods don't work on Maryann. Sookie tries to help Tara engulfed in darkness. Jason attempts to rescue Sam.
Bill seeks out the advice of Sophie-Anne, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana, but must exercise patience before she gives him critical information. Meanwhile, Sookie and Lafayette find that protecting Tara from herself is more difficult than they anticipated; a desperate Sam turns to an unlikely source for assistance; and Jessica tests Hoyt's allegiance to Maxine.
In the season two finale, the mayhem in Bon Temps reaches a fever pitch as Maryann prepares for her ultimate bestial sacrifice, conscripting Sookie to be Maid of Honor at the bloody nuptials. Meanwhile, Sophie-Anne warns Eric to keep the lid on Bill’s inquisitiveness; Jason leads Andy into the heroic abyss; and Hoyt has a hard time swallowing Maxine’s endless stream of insults. Deliberating on what may be his final move to save Sookie and the town, Sam is forced to put his trust, and his life, in a most unlikely ally.
