Christina Applegate stars as Reagan Brinkley, a former TV producer who is still adjusting to motherhood. Having successfully balanced her roles as career woman, loving wife and new mom, Reagan decides to take a break from working to be the stay-at-home parent as her husband, Chris, begins his new business venture. In addition to this restructuring, Reagan must also tend to the needs of her best friend, Ava, who is coping with the recent cancellation of her talk show.
Chris and Reagan's world is turned upside down when The Ava Show gets cancelled and Chris goes into business with Reagan's loveable underachieving brother, Scott.
Ava reunites with an old friend and Chris teaches Reagan about the delicate neighborhood ecosystem.
Reagan and Chris try to be spontaneous and adventurous, while Ava accidentally gives her most prized possession to a fan.
