Xena: Warrior Princess - Season 5
The fifth season of the television series Xena: Warrior Princess commenced airing in the United States and Canada on September 27, 1999, and concluded on May 15, 2000, and contained 22 episodes.
The fifth season aired in the United States on the USA Network. The season was released on DVD as a ten disc boxed set under the title of Xena: Warrior Princess: Season 5 on October 19, 2004 by Anchor Bay Entertainment.
After being crucified by the Romans, Xena and Gabrielle's souls reach Heaven, but they meet an old enemy, Callisto, who is now a demon and kidnaps Gabrielle and carries her to Hell.
After being resurrected, Xena has no memory of her warrior life. Ares pursues her in order to get her to find the Chakram of Light. Meanwhile, Joxer finds the courage to tell Gabrielle that he loves her.
Xena and Gabrielle share one body, the work of the ruthless Ares. Together, Xena and Gabrielle are forced to fight the female warrior Mavican.
While staying in the town of Spamona with Gabrielle, Amarice, Joxer and his friend Arman, Xena begins to realize that she could be pregnant. She also runs into her old friend, Talia, and Gabrielle finally gets her own horse.
“Them Bones, Them Bones”
Alti's spirit has been harming the soul of Xena's baby in the spirit world. Xena, Gabrielle and Amarice go to find Yakut, so she can help Xena fight Alti and save the soul of her baby.
Accompanied by Gabrielle and Joxer, Xena returns to Chin, to wrestle Lao Ma's book of power from an evil minded twin.
“Back in the Bottle”
Xena must master Lao Ma's powers in order to battle the militia led by the evil spirits of Pao Ssu and her brother, Ming Tien, and save Gabrielle, Joxer, and the people of Chin.
Aphrodite accidentally traps Xena in the body of a young, dying girl named Daphne. Aphrodite and Gabrielle have to find a way to reverse it before sunset.
“Seeds of Faith”
Ares feels threatened by Eli, who is spreading a message of love and peace, and decides to kill him. Xena and Gabrielle swear to protect Eli from Ares, but he tells them they cannot use violence to save his life.
“Lyre, Lyre, Hearts on Fire”
In this musical episode, Xena reunites with her mother, Joxer reunites with his twin brother, and Gabrielle meets Draco; and to avoid a war over who gets possession of Terpsichore's lyre, Xena organizes a battle of the bands
While trying to break her writer's block, Gabrielle recounts an eventful day to Aphrodite in which Lachrymose, the god of despair, shrank her, and Xena's horse, Argo.
“God Fearing Child”
Zeus aims to kill Xena and her unborn baby. Meanwhile, Hercules comes to protect them.
Joxer brings three priests to meet Xena and her baby. However, things turn bad when the priests' malicious motives are revealed.
“Amphipolis Under Siege”
Athena declares war on Amphipolis in a plan to try and get Eve.
“Married with Fishsticks”
After Gabrielle gets knocked into the ocean, she wakes up believing she is a siren named Crustacea.
Upon arriving in the Amazon village, Xena and Gabrielle face the prospect of war.
Gabrielle must choose between leading the Amazons and traveling with her companion.
“Antony & Cleopatra”
When the Egyptian queen, Cleopatra, is murdered --Xena assumes her identity to uncover the assassin and protect Egypt. Meanwhile, Gabrielle is confronted by an old friend of Rome.
“Looking Death in the Eye”
Old Joxer tells his children the story of Xena and Gabrielle's last adventure.
When Xena and Gabrielle escape from their ice tombs 25 years later, they return to a very different world.
Livia refuses to believe she is really Xena's daughter and continues to kill Eli's followers. Xena must decide if she should kill her own daughter.
The Olympians discover that Livia is Eve and plans to use Gabrielle to kill her.
