Back in January, we reported that Universal has delayed the Twins sequel Triplets, which brings back original stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, along with Eddie Murphy. Josh Gad and his writing partner Ryan Dixon wrote two drafts of the script, but for reasons unknown, Universal has yet to move forward with the follow-up. Despite the lack of progress on Triplets, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke about the plot briefly on The Howard Stern Show earlier today.

"Now we are talking about a sequel, where we find out at the funeral of our mother, that when we read the will, that there's three of us. Eddie Murphy is going to be the third one and so they go, 'How did that happen' There's an African American coming in here and all of a sudden he's our brother. So we go to do the research but he can only get the money if we find him, so now we have to get him involved."

Arnold Schwarzenegger added that the script is still being "fine-tuned," but Eddie Murphy thinks the idea for the sequel is hilarious, although he isn't sure if original Twins director Ivan Reitman will be back to take the helm on this follow-up.

"I don't even know if Ivan is going to direct it or just produce it, but the writers came up with [the idea] and it's hilarious. They have a script but it has to be, like most scripts, fine-tuned. And so they are fine tuning it right now. Eddie Murphy loves the idea. Danny DeVito and I had lunch with Eddie Murphy over at my house, and we talked about the thing, and we were laughing and laughing the whole meal through because it was such a funny idea. And of course, who wouldn't like it."

It may be quite some time before Triplets moves forward, but Arnold Schwarzenegger will still be keeping busy. He's getting ready to shoot The Legend of Conan later this year, and he also recently signed on to star in 478. Do you hope Triplets moves forward soon?
