According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry James' classic creepy tale The Turn of the Screw is getting the big-screen treatment courtesy of Universal Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment.

Universal has acquired The Turning, a pitch that Chad and Carey Hayes will write and Vertigo's Roy Lee and Doug Davison will produce. The Hayes brothers have come up with a contemporary take on the story of a caretaker hired to look after two orphaned children at their family's isolated estate. Upon the caretaker's arrival, the young woman finds that the children are not quite what they seem, and that she might be losing them to malevolent spirits with a secret tie to their past.
