‘Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Project’ Gets October 2012 Release Date

Sony Pictures gives an October 12, 2012 release date to Kathryn Bigelow's Osama bin Laden project Sony Pictures has handed out an October 12, 2012 release date for the Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Project. The studio acquired the project back in May.

Director Kathryn Bigelow will reunite with The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal for this new story, which is based on the Navy SEAL Team 6's mission where terrorist Osama bin Laden was killed. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal were already working on a similar project, which revolved around the several unsuccessful attempts made to kill bin Laden. When SEAL Team 6's mission was successful, the script underwent heavy revisions and sparked interest from practically every studio in town before eventually landing at Sony.

It has also been rumored that Joel Edgerton has been circling the project, although it isn't known if he has officially signed on yet. It isn't known when production will start quite yet.

Zero Dark Thirty was released January 11th, 2013.

The Hurt locker was good but a little hockey in some places. But some of the scenes were a little too accurate. It was an awesome film that made me squirm.

Tryign to capture lightning in a bottle eh Kathy?

To many people are going to think she is doing this to cash in on the bin Laden take down but in reality her screenwriter and herself had been working on a script about Seal Team 6 way before that even happened. I know it says that above but people need to know this movie isn't being made out of greed.

I guess she has decided not to leave behind a genre that works so well for her.
