The film is Mark Neveldine's first solo effort after collaborating with co-director and long time partner Brian Taylor. Their past work includes Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance, Crank, Crank High Voltage and Gamer. Now, Mark Neveldine embarks on this horror thriller that is sure to bring plenty of scares to the summer box office.

The Vatican Tapes follows the haunting tale of 27-year-old Angela Holmes, played by Olivia Dudley, an ordinary girl who begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close to her, causing serious injury and death. The local priest, Father Lozano (Michael Peña), examines Holmes and believes she is possessed, but when Vicar Imani (Djimon Hounsou) and Cardinal Bruun (Peter Andersson) are called from the Vatican to exorcise the demon, it proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than they imagined.
