Doom

The Game: The 1993 PC title gave rise to the first-person shooter genre with players taking on the role of an elite space soldier who has to eliminate hellish creatures released when an experiment opens a portal to Hades.

The Film: The film's story deviates significantly from the game, in that the monsters are humans infected with a super-virus, not visitors from Hades. The filmmakers are keen to preserve the game's atmosphere, keeping the dark tone and shooting many scenes in first-person.

Spy Hunter

Studio: Universal

The Game: This arcade classic became a console hit when it was updated and released for Sony's PlayStation 2 in 2001.

The Film: Johnson plays former F-15 pilot Alec Sects, recruited by the government to become a SpyHunter. Behind the wheel of his fully armed vehicle, which can morph into various configurations, his mission is to bring down a cartel seeking world domination.

Silent Hill

The Game: Screenwriter Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, Rules of Attraction) says that the second game in Konami's Silent Hill series serves as the primary inspiration for the film. The game follows a man whose life is shattered when his wife suffers a tragic death. Three years later, he receives a mysterious letter from her, beckoning him to return to their sanctuary of memories, the town of Silent Hill.

The Film: "The Lord of the Rings" thesp Sean Bean stars opposite Radha Mitchell in the story of a mother and daughter exploring the secrets of an abandoned town. Brotherhood Of The Wolf helmer Christophe Gans is directing.

Splinter Cell

Studio: Paramount

The Game: Ubisoft's popular stealth-action game puts gamers in control of Sam Fisher, a former CIA agent and ex-Navy SEAL who's called into action to gather intelligence for a new NSA subagency called Third Echelon.

The Film: Paramount hopes to merge the game's trademark blend of stealth and action with dynamic and original characters. Berg has hinted that he'd like to cast Mark Wahlberg in the lead.

BloodRayne

Studio: TBA

Director: Uwe Boll

Cast: Kristanna Loken, Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen

The Game: BloodRayne follows a sexy woman vampire who takes on a dangerous group that's trying to unite three parts of an ancient talisman that will give them the power to control the world.

The Film: Loken stars in the title role as a half-human/half-vampire driven to overthrow her father, the evil king of the vampires (Ben Kingsley).
