Late yesterday, Vin Diesel posted yet another clue as to the potential role he will be filling in Marvel's cinematic universe. He returned to Facebook, offering only a picture of Groot, the living tree that first appears in Tales to Astonish #13, way back in 1960. The character will make his theatrical debut in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Check out the photo and read on to find out more.

The actor previously posted a photo of himself standing in front of the second issue of The Avengers after a meeting with Marvel higher ups. That lead fans to think he was up for a role in the upcoming The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Deadline has now confirmed that Vin Diesel is in advanced talks for the role of Groot. While the above photo served as the actor's profile picture on Facebook for a while yesterday, it was later removed completely from his timeline. Despite Marvel Studios heavy presence at D23 in Anaheim this weekend, which included a Guardians of the Galaxy segment, there was no mention or announcement that Vin would be taking on the character.

Although the deep voice would be a perfect fit for a living tree, Groot only utters the phrase "I am Groot!" over and over again to those who cannot understand his native language. Its not known if this piece of character history will remain in tact for the film, or if James Gunn's screenplay deviates from this, giving Groot more to say.

Nothing has been confirmed by Disney or Marvel Studios at this time.
