Originally, Terrence Malick had planned to release both The Tree of Life and Voyage of Time as companion pieces, although Voyage of Time's release has been pushed, since both movies deal with the same themes. Brad Pitt will narrate the documentary, although no time frame has been given for Voyage of Time. Here's what producer Bill Pohlad had to say about the project.
"It was important not to cannibalize The Tree of Life. But we want to do it. He just has to find the time to do it."
Voyage of Time will follow, "the whole of time, from the birth of the universe to its final collapse," according to a secret outline for the documentary, which is also said to be produced in the IMAX format. Some scenes, which feature the birth of the universe, were originally set to be included in The Tree of Life.
