Have you ever imagined what it would be like to survive through the zombie apocalypse? Now, you can do just that as Universal Studios Hollywood prepares to unleash its new year-round The Walking Dead attraction. The Undead aren't just for Halloween any more! As these shambling flesh-eaters prepare for a prolonged stay at this Southern California theme park.

The new The Walking Dead attraction was announced last night on Talking Dead immediately following the latest exciting episode of The Walking Dead. For the past four years, The Walking Dead maze has been one of the most popular attractions at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. Now, the living dead are getting a permanent residence so fans can enjoy being terrified any time they please.

This new The Walking Dead attraction will be getting its own structure within the park. And Universal Studios promises they are raising the bar with "authentic walker makeup effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series." Executive producer, special effects makeup suprerivor and sometimes director Greg Nicotero has official given this attraction his own gruesome stamp of approval. The Walkers will appear even more life-like than they do on the show. In fact, children under 13 will be strongly cautioned to stay very far away.

Greg Nicotero wouldn't offer any specifics. But he did hint that fans will get to see some of their favorite vignettes and characters from the first 6 seasons of the show. The attraction will combine both live action performers with animatronics, with the action focused on the zombie walkers. Says Greg Nicotero about this terrifying experience awaiting park goers.

"There are moments from the television show that we'll get a chance to recreate much more faithfully than we would in a maze. You'll get some great opportunities to see things from Season 1 and some stuff from Seasons 3 and 4. It's a little bit of a walk down memory lane for us."

Universal Studios is as excited about the attraction as Greg Nicotero. And while it means they may have to find another key piece to their Halloween Horror Nights puzzle, they are excited that all fans will get to experience this year-round. Universal Studios Hollywood president Larry Kurzweil had this to say in an official statement.

"The Walking Dead is a phenomenon that has successfully and consistently affected the psyche of viewers on a global basis, since its debut. We're taking its intensity to the next level by collaborating with the show's award-winning production team to create an authentic living representation of the series that can only be experienced at Universal Studios Hollywood."

You can get a sneak peek at The Walking Dead year-round attraction in the footage below. There is some cool concept art on display. And we get to see a lot of Walkers from previous episodes. What do you think? Is this the premiere destination for your family vacation this year? Or is it so scary, there's no way you'll attempt to enter this scream-filled fun house?
