Disney has pulled the plug on The Order of the Seven, a new rendition of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs set in Asia.

The project had been in development for a while, with Saoirse Ronan signing on to star in February. Disney even hired Iron Man writers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus to polish the script last week. But now all of that development work has been stopped. The studio has been re-evaluating their big-budget projects, after the box office failure of John Carter. The Order of the Seven's budget was not disclosed, although it was a high enough number to have the studio reconsider their options.

The story centered on a woman in 19th Century Hong Kong, who flees from her wicked stepmother and finds solace with seven brave warriors. The men belong to a clan known for fighting dragons and demons.

Michael Gracey was slated to make his directorial debut on The Order of the Seven, but it doesn't seem this project will be moving forward anytime soon.
