As we get closer to the release date for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, fans may be wondering about the other prequel film proposed starring one of the main characters from X-Men - in this case, the Mutant Master of Magnetism, Magneto. Well, Aaron Sims, character designer for X-Men Origins: Magneto recently told MTV a bit about what fans could expect from the film if it gets greenlit.

Sims is quick to point out that "Unfortunately, because of the writers strike, it got pushed off," Sims said. "But they're now back to the rewrites."

What Sims is able to say is that the film will be an origin story. "Remember the scene [from 'X-Men'] in the concentration camp where you see Magneto as a young boy? It just continues from there," Sims said. "Some people thought that might be too dark, but I really like that. It's a lot of death and mayhem." Sims also confirms that, much like with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men Origins: Magneto will feature additional mutant characters from the comics - leaving Sims the challenge of designing visions of the characters that will keep fans happy, but also surprise them. "The fan base has a vision of what they should look like, and that's always the challenge," Sims said. "It was the same with The Incredible Hulk."

Fortunately, for Sims, X-Men Origins: Magneto director David Goyer has a whole slate of projects ahead of him before he gets to Magneto. (Goyer is currently slated to direct The Invisible Man, SuperMax and Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire) Why is this fortunate? Because Sims has a full slate as well, including another superhero - Green Lantern.

"David's like me," Sims laughed. "He works nonstop. He's not one of those kinds of writers or directors who ever stops. I'm surprised he has any time at all. But I'm fortunate to work with directors like him who I admire. I can't say no to him."
