‘War Games’ Remake Gets Director Seth Gordon

Seth Gordon will direct the War Games remake Director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) has signed on to direct a remake of the 1983 classic WarGames for MGM.

The original WarGames, which starred Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy, centered on a whiz kid computer programmer who finds a way inside the government's military computer system. Seth Gordon will develop the screenplay for MGM, which has a spate of remakes in development including RoboCop and Carrie.

Little is known about the story, but it is said that the studio is giving Seth Gordon a lot of room to craft a new story set in the 21st Century.

No production schedule was given for the WarGames remake yet.

WarGames was released June 3rd, 1983.

Since the United States isnt at some type of standoff with any country like during the Cold War, which pretty much was the main focal point of War Games, there would really be no modern day comparison to develop a story for a proper remake. Use the title for your movie if you want to. just come up with an original story and dont brand it as a remake!

It was only a matter of time before this got the dreaded reboot. Given the rate technology is moving, this one will probably become a generational affair in terms of remakes.

I do wish they would leave it alone, however. I'm a huge fan of the orig.
