Two Greek epic films are set to square off and they're both close to securing their leads as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavil is in talks for the lead in War of the Gods and Sam Worthington is in negotiations for the Clash of the Titans lead.

Both films are set in Greece, with War of the Gods revolving around the struggles of kings and warriors and Clash of the Titans, a live-action remake of the 1981 classic, centers on Perseus trying to save a princess from Greek villains such as Medusa.

While Clash of the Titans, directed by Louis Leterrier, was set up first, it seems that War of the Gods, directed by Tarsem Singh, might have the early edge, in terms of start dates. War of the Gods is set to begin production in February, with Clash of the Titans slated for an April start.

Both films are said to be budgeted under $100 million - inspired by the stylized CGI work utilized in 300 - with War of the Gods sitting at an approximate budget of $85 million and Clash of the Titans slightly lower at $70 million.
