It's been quite some time since we've seen any footage from Legendary's highly-anticipated Warcraft, which is shaping up to be one of this year's biggest movies, opening on June 10. The studio released a new TV spot in November, but we haven't seen anything from this video game adaptation since then. Earlier today, the studio released another TV spot with brand new footage that showcases the magical land of Azeroth and the battle between the Horde and the Alliance, which aired during the NFL Playoffs.

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders. Orc warriors are fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Warcraft stars Travis Fimmel, Dominic Cooper, Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Robert Kazinsky and Daniel Wu. This action epic is directed by Duncan Jones and written by Charles Leavitt and Jones. Warcraft is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production.

The producers of Warcraft are Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Gartner and Stuart Fenegan. Jillian Share, Brent O'Connor, Michael Morhaime and Paul Sams serve as executive producers. Rob Pardo, Chris Metzen, Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produce. Warcraft will go up against a pair of sequels, New Line's The Conjuring: The Enfield Poltergeist and Lionsgate's Now You See Me 2: The Second Act.

Video game adaptations have consistently under-performed at the box office throughout the years, with only one movie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, which earned $131.1 million back in 2001. While we still have a long wait for Warcraft, it seems likely that it could be the highest-grossing video game adaptation, paving the way for other highly-anticipated movies such as Assassin's Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, and Splinter Cell, which has Tom Hardy set to star. Do you think Warcraft could usher in a new wave of blockbuster movie adaptations? Let us know what you think after checking out this new TV spot.
