According to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures has bought sci-fi spec script Mainline from scribe Brett Matthews for Dylan Sellers to produce through his Warners-based shingle.

Studio insiders were keeping the logline of the futuristic thriller under wraps. Shaevitz will oversee the project for Warners.

Matthews' previous credits include an episode of Joss Whedon's "Firefly," which recently was adapted by Universal into Serenity, as well as U's animated The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury. He also penned "Bionicle: The Feature," based on a Lego toy line.

Last month, Universal bought a sci-fi pitch from Matthews and Simon Kinberg ("Mr. & Mrs. Smith"). Kinberg came up with the idea, while Matthews will do the writing.
