According to Variety, Warner Bros. has set up Speedo, a film inspired by a Jesse Moss-directed documentary about a demolition driver.

Ed Saxon will produce through his ESP banner and the film will be scripted by Alex Tanaka and Brian Gatewood. Moss will co-produce.

The film will focus on the exploits of a drag racer who turns to demolition racing and crashes his way to modest fame on a Long Island race track. He becomes so passionate about it that he struggles to keep his family together.

The real Speedo, Ed Jager, races at a quarter-mile track at Riverhead Raceway. Saxon, Jonathan Demme's former partner, frequents the track when summering in nearby Southold. He sparked to the documentary and brought it to WB execs Kevin McCormick and Alyssa Shipp.
