According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Home Entertainment has given the "fifth quarter" a jump start by announcing that Wedding Crashers, the fourth-biggest movie of the year with a boxoffice of $203.6 million, will skip the holiday-selling season and instead arrive January 3 on DVD and UMD.

The news comes at a time when most suppliers are pushing out their summer movies and other high-profile titles before the holidays, in the hopes of maximizing the traditionally busy fourth quarter, when the video industry generates about 40% of its yearly revenue. For us the fourth quarter begins in September 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment senior marketing communications vp Steve Feldstein said.

Fox is getting a head start on the holiday-selling season by releasing Robots, one of the year's biggest movies, on Sept. 27, and then rolling out the bulk of its summer theatrical hits, including Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith and Mr & Mrs Smith in October and November.
