According to The Hollywood Reporter, Panic has ensued at the Weinstein Co. Bob and Harvey Weinstein said Wednesday that the burgeoning company has purchased the rights to develop and produce Panic, a novel from Jeff Abbott that will hit store shelves Thursday.

The award-winning mystery-suspense novelist's latest tale centers on a documentary filmmaker who returns home to Austin to find his mother brutally murdered and learns that his entire life is a carefully constructed lie. "Jeff Abbott has written a remarkable suspense thriller that provides the ideal framework for a riveting motion picture," company topper Harvey Weinstein said.
