Back in April, Sony Pictures offered a first look at their thriller When the Bough Breaks at CinemaCon with the first trailer. We haven't heard anything about the movie since then, but with the September 9 release date getting closer and closer, the studio has rolled out a second trailer with even more new footage. This could be one of the most chilling thrillers of the year, and it may have couples seeking surrogates reconsidering adoption or other methods of bringing a baby into their lives.

This new trailer, which debuted on Sony Screen Gems' Youtube channel, focuses on John and Laura Taylor (Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall), a young, professional couple who desperately want a baby. After exhausting all other options, they finally hire Anna (Jaz Sinclair), the perfect woman to be their surrogate - but as she gets further along in her pregnancy, so too does her psychotic and dangerous fixation on the husband. The couple becomes caught up in Anna's deadly game and must fight to regain control of their future before it's too late.

The supporting cast is rounded out by Theo Rossi, Christina Bach, GiGi Erneta, Michelle DeVito, Boyana Balta, Justin Lebrun and Jeff Caperton. Sony Pictures has set a September 9 release date for this thriller, putting it up against Relativity's thriller The Disappointments Room, Warner Bros. true story adaptation Sully and Lionsgate's animated movie The Wild Life. It will also go up against Magnolia's Author: The JT LeRoy Story, Cohen Media Group's Come What May, IFC's Dancer, The Orchard's Demon, Focus World's Kicks and Independent's Other People in limited release.

Jon Cassar (Forsaken) directs When the Bough Breaks from a script by Jack Olsen (Sleepwalker). Jon Cassar is best known for his work on 24, with this thriller marking his first feature directorial outing since 1998's The Ultimate Weapon starring Hulk Hogan. He most recently has directed episodes of 24: Live Another Day, Between and Wicked City.

Morris Chestnut currently stars in the new Fox series Rosewood, while Regina Hall most recently starred in the comedy sequel Barbershop: The Next Cut. We'll have to wait and see if When the Bough Breaks becomes a big hit at the box office in the fall months. Take a look at the new trailer from Screen Gems' When the Bough Breaks, as we get closer and closer to this fall release.
