20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise is now bigger than ever, with shooting about to begin on Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse this spring, and spinoffs Deadpool and Gambit also set to hit theaters in 2016. The studio is also developing Wolverine 3, which brings Hugh Jackman back as the title character, although there is very little we know about the project thus far. During an interview with Oregon Live, Patrick Stewart revealed that he may be starring in this new Wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman.

"What I'm very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of X-Men from the four movies that I've already done."

It's worth noting that the end of last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past set up a whole new timeline for the X-Men franchise, which could be when Wolverine 3 is set. As you may recall, the end of 2013's The Wolverine lead directly into X-Men: Days of Future Past, so it's certainly possible that Wolverine 3 could use the timeline set up at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, especially since X-Men: Apocalypse is set during the 1980s. It's possible that Famke Janssen (Jean Grey), James Marsden (Cyclops) and many others from the original X-Men trilogy could return as well. What do you think about these new plot details?
