Earlier this month, we reported that Narcos star Boyd Holbrook has signed on to play the main villain in 20th Century Fox's highly-anticipated Wolverine 3, alongside Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart. A report from February revealed that filming will begin sometime this month in New Orleans, but it isn't known exactly when cameras will start rolling on this superhero adventure, which will mark Hugh Jackman's final performance as Wolverine. Today we have a new casting report that hints another mutant from the comics may be popping up in Wolverine 3, X-23.

Project Casting posted a casting notice yesterday for the third Wolverine movie, which is reportedly shooting under the working title Juarez. The production is seeking a very specific type of young woman to play body doubles and stand-ins for an unspecified character. The production is seeking Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian women over the age of 21, who are between 4'0-4'11 in height, size 0-4, with dark brown hair for stand-in roles, which could very well be for the X-23 character.

X-23, a.k.a. Laura Kinney, was created by Craig Kyle for the animated TV series X-Men: Evolution, making her debut on the show in 2004. She soon transferred over to the comics, where she was further created by both Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, who went on to write the scripts for Thor and Thor: The Dark World. X-23 was cloned from Wolverine's DNA, and her name comes from the fact that she was the 23rd attempt at creating a clone, and by far the most successful. Much like Wolverine himself, X-23 has regenerative healing abilities and retractable adamantium claws, along with superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes and heightened senses.

The casting call is also seeking Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian female children between the ages of 6-13 who are between the height of 4'2-4'5 with dark brown hair for photo doubles. Applicants must be local to the New Orleans area and fit all of the above listed criteria. For those who want to apply, you can send an email to Juarez@centralcasting.com with a recent photo along with your name, contact phone number, and location.

If this casting call is for the X-23 role, it would mark the first time this mutant will be seen on the silver screen. Aside from X-Men: Evolution, the character was also featured on another animated series, Wolverine and The X-Men, where she was voiced by Tara Strong. There is very little we know about the story at this point, but there have been rumors that director James Mangold and writer Michael Green may be adapting the popular Old Man Logan story line, where Logan loses his mutant powers and starts to age. In the Marvel comic books, after the Secret Wars event, Laura is revealed to be one of the two new Wolverines in the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe, along with Old Man Logan. We'll be sure to keep you posted with more Wolverine 3 updates as soon as they come in.
