The superhero movie craze has been going on for quite some time now, and still, there has been no quality female led superhero movie made in that time. That is all about to change as Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Wonder Woman. Marvel Studios may be ahead of the curve in a lot of ways, but this is something that DC managed to beat them to in a really big way. And by the looks of it, they did it right.

Warner bros. first debuted the trailer during their Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, which is currently taking place in Downtown Dan Diego, California. Prior to this, the only footage we had seen from Wonder Woman was during the CW's 1-hour Justice League special a handful of months ago, and it didn't really show much. But what it did show was promising. This is real deal footage though, and it gives us a real idea of what to expect from the Patty Jenkins directed addition to the DC Extended Universe. Also, in case you missed it, here is the official synopsis for Wonder Woman.

"Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers...and her true destiny."

Ever since the superhero book started back in the early 2000's, many fans have been calling for a female led superhero movie to be made. Many were upset when Marvel Studios announced their Phase 3 lineup, which didn't include a Scarlett Johansson Black Widow Solo movie, which everyone assumed was going to happen. That left room for Warner Bros. to swoop in and get Wonder Woman done, and that is something they can be proud of. Not only that, but Gal Gadot's performance as the character was one of the most redeeming qualities of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, so fans have every reason to be encouraged now, especially with this new footage.

Gal Gadot is of course playing the part of Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros. has surrounded her with a stellar supporting cast. She is being joined by Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta. Other members of the cast include David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Danny Huston, Ewen Bremner and Lucy Davis. Also, we can't rule out the possibility of some cameos, being that this is part of the DC Extended Universe.

Patty Jenkins (Monster) is directing Wonder Woman from a screenplay by Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg. Charles Roven, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder and wife Deborah Snyder are producing the movie.
