Ever since production has been under way on Wonder Woman, we have only seen a few set photos featuring Gal Gadot as the title character and Chris Pine as her love interest, Steve Trevor. Even with the release of those photos, we haven't seen a ton from the set, but, while promoting his new film The Finest Hours, Chris Pine shed some new light on his character. Here's what he had to say in an interview with The Toronto Sun, where he confirmed the World War I setting.

"Steve Trevor is a rogue-ish, cynical realist who's seen the awful brutish nature of modern civilization. He's a worldly guy, a charming guy and it's going to be a great, fun film. There are some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes. Patty is just directing the daylights out of it. It's shot beautifully, feels so wonderfully period, but also has this wonderful pop sensibility. It's a period we don't see often; it's usually World War II. Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I'd never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here. It highlights a really important point. When background casting is done well, it can make or break a scene. I've got people in deep background that have entire lives. It's awesome, it's actual make-believe land."

Even though production is still under way, fans will get their first look at this highly-anticipated adventure next week. The CW is airing a half-hour special entitled DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League on Tuesday, January 19, which invites viewers behind the scenes of the exciting new movies coming out of the DC Films universe. The special culminates with the thrilling world premiere of the all-new trailer for Suicide Squad, DC's misfit crew of antiheroes forced into saving the world this summer, with director David Ayer. Hosted by filmmaker/writer/lifelong comics fan Kevin Smith, with special guest DC Entertainment's Geoff Johns, the special showcases the explosive landscape of DC's greatest heroes, kicking off with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in theaters this March, and with a sneak peek from the upcoming Wonder Woman feature film.

The supporting cast that also includes Ewen Bremner, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis and Saïd Taghmaoui. No details about these supporting characters have been revealed quite yet, but hopefully we'll learn more about the full cast as production continues. There were also rumors that Sean Bean and Eva Green were playing the main villains Ares and Circe, but their involvement hasn't been confirmed either.

Patty Jenkins (Monster) is directing Wonder Woman from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs (Pan), with Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder producing. The story is reportedly set in World War I, present day, and on the title character's homeland of Themyscira. What do you think about these new details? Stay tuned for more updates as production on Wonder Woman continues.
