Being the most anticipated non-CGI laden film of the summer, Kevin Smith's epic, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back continues to build the hype by releasing the flicks second internet-only trailer! Not only is the trailer reeeeaalllyyy cool (it looks like every Jersey movie put together and given conventional narcotics) but according to writer/director/actor Smith's website, Viewaskew.com, the test screenings got some of the highest ratings in Miramax history! Boo yah! Check out the coolest 1:11 of the season HERE.
In a move almost as weird as Adam Sandler being in P.T. Anderson's (Boogie Nights, Magnolia) next film, one of the industries most talented action directors might be taking on. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? As if it wasn't enough to be anxiously awaiting John Woo's World War 2 epic, Windtalkers, we now get to see a darker and more violent stab at our favorite weapon wielding amphibious heros! According to Ain't it Cool, this independent, big budget flick (costing around $40-$60 million) will be entirely computer animated (think Shrek or Final Fantasy), and be truer to the original graphic novels done by Kevin Eastman.
Along the same lines as the new Ninja Turtles action flick (see above), Variety reports Nicholas Cage may sign on to play Johnny Blaze in Miramax's $75 million adaptation of the Marvel comic, Ghost Rider. Sounds good to me, but I'm afraid if the comic-to-movie trend continues, we'll have to deal with the evil of all evils that is (the next four words may be unsuitable for some religious groups and young children).Family Circus: The movie. Hide your pets.
Oh! And don't forget to check out Death's End.
As for me, I'm off to see if The Fast and the Furious is gonna be Crazy and cool or stupid, and, uh...stupider. ~Steve
