Charles Leavitt (The Seventh Son) has signed on to write the screenplay for Legendary Entertainment's video game adaptation World of Warcraft. Sam Raimi had originally been attached to direct, although he was forced to drop out, due to his involvement with Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Legendary is said to have responded positively to the new writer's take on the material, which may keep the languishing project moving forward as they try to find a new director. The Activision/Blizzard Entertainment video game Warcraft debuted in 1994, where players take part in an epic struggle between the Horde and the Alliance. Blizzard's World of Warcraft is a subscription-based multi-player online roleplaying game, where gamers from all over the world do battle in this fantasy realm.

There is no production schedule set at this time, although it is believed that, if the studio can find a director in the near future, the earliest it could be released is 2014.
