The latest issue of Empire is being quite generous with new photos. Yesterday, we got to see 8 never-before-seen images from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Today, we get a sneak peek at another highly anticipated superhero movie hitting in 2016. The magazine has debuted three new photos from X-Men: Apocalypse. Plus a high-res version of a still we've seen before that has caused some controversy.

So, it's safe to say that, a few weeks removed from Comic-Con, the look of X-Men: Apocalypse's main villain has not sat well with fans. Oscar Isaac plays the world's first known Mutant, an evil force awakened from his Egyptian tomb who goes on a quest to collect his four horsemen. In this latest high-res still, we get the same select moment that we previously saw. Oscar Isaac is flanked by Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn), who both look great. Yet, he has been compared to Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers, with some claiming he ripped-off his look from Guardians of the Galaxy. The more generous fans hoped that he would be corrected with some well placed CGI. But here is the official still in all its glory, showing that this is Apocalypse. The only thing that might make some outraged fans feel better is the fact that Apocalypse will grow to be the gargantuan threat that we know and love from the comic books. So while this is the version we get at the beginning of the movie, as he sets out to finish his Four Horsemen collection with Angel and Magneto, he will also go through a transformation.

Fans will also be happy to see the return of Dr. Moira Kinross MacTaggert, played by Rose Byrne. The actress introduced her version of the character in X-Men: First Class. Though, she was first seen on the big screen in X-Men: The Last Stand, played by Olivia Williams. Even though X-Men: Days of Future Past greatly altered the timelines of every movie in the franchise, her character's presence in the 60s through 2006 makes little sense as she hasn't aged at all. Maybe she will be revealed as an age defying mutant in X-Men: Apocalypse. But as it stands, she is a human geneticist and is an expert in mutant affairs who comes to Professor Xavier's aid in thwarting Apocalypse's plan to rule the world.

Joining her on this mission is Lucas Till as Havok, who is seen here with a hole burned through the middle of his shirt. He's not attempting an 80s fad, he simply doesn't have his energy harness on. Standing alongside him is Beast (Nicholas Hoult), who looks quite shocked at whatever is coming their way inside Xavier's mansion. And then, of course, there is Raven, seen in her Ramones (Jennifer Lawrence) punk look. Always a rebel, Mystique is on the side of good this time around, and helps Charles form a new band of Mutant superheroes in fighting off the threat that is Apocalypse.

Michael Fassbender shows up as a disheveled Magneto in a third new photo. He has been trying to lead a normal life in Poland, where he has found love and a sense of purpose. But his world is soon shattered and he looses all hope and faith in anything. Apocalypse steps in to show him a new way, and before long, Erik is riding side-by-side with this blue villain, taking charge as one of the Four Horsemen. This will be a defining story arc for Michael Fassbender's Magneto, and it may be the last time we see him on screen.

The final new photo shows us Tye Sheridan as Cyclops. He is Havok's brother, and his presence in this particular story is expected. During the 80s comic book run, Cyclops was a fan favorite. And his love affair with Jean Grey was one that stretched throughout the decade. A love triangle has been teased, and we see him strolling through the mall with his main crush here, played by Sophie Turner. Though, the third person in this trio has yet to be revealed. We see the couple during happier times, as they visit the cassette store on their way to see Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. Take a look at this latest sneak peek. Do you like what you see? And is Apocalypse growing on you?
