Periscope is being utilized more frequently by movie studios, bringing fans closer to the filmmakers. This morning, 20th Century Fox had director Bryan Singer jump on the live video platform to announce the July 14, 2015 release date for X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut, which is coming to Blu-ray and DVD. The director, who is currently shooting X-Men: Apocalypse in Montreal, again reiterated that this version of the movie will have a full 17 minutes of new footage.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut reincorporates an important scene that was cut from the theatrical release. It is a scene headlined by Rogue, played by Anna Paquin and features old Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and old Magneto (Ian McKellen) teaming up for a mission in the future. This is what writer and producer Simon Kinberg said in an earlier interview with Collider about this particular scene:

"Just to see what that would look like. I mean, truly, seriously, it was like, 'What would it be like to have Patrick and Ian on a road trip together?' And that was kind of, you know, it got condensed as I wrote it and then when we shot it, but it was just a sub-plot. It was a perfectly good sub-plot and people will see it one day, and Anna was great in it and it was well-directed; it just didn't serve the overall story. And it didn't, it never did, it was created outside the core story. As a result, when you watched the movie, you were like, 'Why are we on this detour, on a movie that already has two time periods, two types of Sentinels, 10-12 main characters, just as a lark?' And so it ended up getting cut."

Not only is this new scene being put back in the movie, the full 17 minutes of new footage also touches on other aspects of this 2014 adventure. Bryan Singer has made what he calls 'a few little changes'. What those changes are have not yet been revealed. We'll all find out his summer when X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut is released in July.
