Marvel Cinematic Universe is introducing younger superheroes at a faster rate ever since The Infinity Saga ended with Avengers: Endgame. Without wasting time, the franchise introduced the Maximoff twins, Wiccan and Speed right away in WandaVision, and then went on to bring Jack Veal as Kid Loki in Loki. Hailee Steinfield got a hard-hitting introduction in Hawkeye as Kate Bishop and now, Iman Vellani is on her way to join this vast cinematic universe as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Along with these wonderful introductions, Xochitl Gomez is also sneaking her way into the world of superheroes as America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With all these young kids showing up with their unique superpowers, the franchise is probably heading toward an inevitable Young Avengers team-up. Though Marvel Studios hasn’t given any direct update or reference on such a project under planning, America Chavez actress Xochitl Gomez believes that the team-up is on her mind.

Talking to ComicBook.com in a recent press conference for the film’s promotion, Gomez revealed the members she’ll love to join in a Young Avengers project. She said:

Of course, Kate Bishop and I think Loki because I want to see how that can pan out.

In the comics, Young Avengers is a team of teenage superheroes, some hailing from families of older Marvel superbeings. The team, just like Avengers, fights against existential threats on the planet, keeping the legacy of their former idols intact. There may not be much about Young Avengers teased in the MCU by its name, Marvel Studios is slowly building up the hype for the same, and it may not be long before the team slowly makes its way into a crossover event.

Young Avengers in the MCU?

The thought of such a project may not be as far-fetched as it may seem. Yes, there are tons of characters and backstories that Marvel needs to tap into before these kids’ journeys lead them to become Earth's mightiest superheroes. However, Marvel has already introduced several characters in the comics' iteration of Young Avengers.

Kate Bishop is, of course, a prominent member. There are Tommy and Billy, aka Speed and Wiccan respectively, along with their ‘father,’ Vision, who also was a member of the team though he isn't a teenager. America Chavez is merely four days away from her introduction to the MCU. Besides, Kid Loki, who doesn’t have a prominent role in the MCU yet, is also a core member of the team. In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we met Eli Bradley who becomes Patriot in the comics. A surprising member of the team is Nathaniel Richards, aka Iron Lad, a founding member of the team, who then goes on to become the villain, Kang the Conqueror. Fans will meet Kang in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which will also introduce another Young Avengers member, Stature, alias Cassie Lang.

Furthermore, along with Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams/Ironheart is also set to make her MCU debut soon in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Both of them may not be original Young Avengers members in the comics, but MCU may give them a shot at having a part in the team. And there’s nothing impossible with the MCU, especially at the stage it has reached now.

What are your thoughts on Xochitl Gomez's desire of having a Young Avengers project in the MCU?
