Vin Diesel has always had an active presence on social media, which he uses to give his fans first look photos and videos while his movies are in production. Last week, he even debuted the first trailer for XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, which came just two months after production wrapped. Earlier today, the actor released a new behind-the-scenes video, where he's seen carrying his co-star Deepika Padukone to her trailer, with the actor joking that his co-star has it in her contract that he must always carry her away.

Vin Diesel's first xXx was a box office hit, taking in $142.1 million domestic and $277.4 million worldwide from a $70 million budget. Despite the initial movie's success, Vin Diesel did not return for the sequel XXX: State of the Union, which starred Ice Cube as Augustus Gibbons' new recruit, Darius Stone. That sequel didn't fare quite as well at the box office, taking in just $26.8 million domestically and $71 million worldwide. It's worth noting that Vin Diesel didn't star in the second Fast & Furious movie either, but after he came back in the fourth movie, the franchise got bigger and bigger. We'll have to wait and see if Vin Diesel's return in xXx 3 can revive this franchise after an 11 year hiatus.

The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series' signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage aims to raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film.

Vin Diesel and Samuel L. Jackson will be joined by a supporting cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, Donnie Yen and Conor McGregor. D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) is directing xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, from a script by Chad St. John (London Has Fallen) with current revisions by F. Scott Frazier (Collide). Paramount Pictures has set a January 20, 2017 release date for XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, which is shaping up to be quite the competitive weekend early next year.

The action sequel will be facing The Weinstein Company's The Founder, which opens wide on January 20, 2017 after an Oscar-qualifying run this December, and Universal's horror-thriller Split, starring James McAvoy. There are also four high-profile movies opening one week prior on January 13. 20th Century Fox will debut Hidden Figures, with Paramount's Friday the 13th, Warner Bros.' Live By Night and Paramount's Monster Trucks also opening on that date. Take a look at this new behind-the-scenes video for xXX: The Return of Xander Cage below, and stay tuned for more updates on this sequel.
