Music superstar Kanye West debuted a mysterious trailer for a new movie entitled Yeezus on his official website earlier today. Unfortunately, no details have been released about what, exactly, Yeezus is, except that it is a film directed by Hype Williams (Belly) which is coming to theaters at some point. It seems likely that Yeezus, which is also the title of his latest album, is a concert film, featuring footage from his most recent tour, although news broke earlier today that the musician is working on a movie project with writer Bret Easton Ellis. Could they be one and the same? Check out the trailer, then read on for more information.

Radar Online reported earlier today that Kanye West is writing a biopic centering on his own life, with Bret Easton Ellis. While little is known about the plot, an unidentified source revealed that the movie is actually based on the Yeezus album itself.

"It's going to be based on the Yeezus album. That's pretty much a narrative of Kanye's life."

However, Yeezus and this biopic are likely unrelated, since this source revealed that Kanye West wants to direct the biopic himself. The musician will not appear as himself, but he wants to be heavily involved with all aspects of the production. While the musician himself will not star, his fiancee Kim Kardashian does have a role in the movie.

"Kim is definitely going to be in it. The screenplay already features her character. They're still working on the script, so it's unclear at this point if Kim will be a major star of the movie or making a smaller cameo, but her role in the movie will be pivotal. Her role is going to be very dramatic. Far from the bubbly happy persona that she's always played."

There is also a report from SlamXHype that shows a page from this script, with handwritten notes that indicate the musician wants Liam Neeson to play Jesus. Of course, it isn't known if this is a page from the actual script, or if it is just a hoax.

The biopic is said to be dedicated to Kanye West's mother, who died from complications due to plastic surgery in 2007. When asked when the movie may be released, Bret Easton Ellis had this to say.

"It's Kanye Land, and that's subject to a whole other time frame."
