The story centers on a young college student (Emmy Rossum) who gets an eye-opening experience when she takes a job caring for a woman (Hilary Swank) stricken with ALS, a.k.a Lou Gehrig's Disease. Loretta Devine will play another ALS patient who becomes friends with Hilary Swank's character, while Ali Larter will play Hilary Swank's best friend. Jason Ritter is portraying a man vying for the affections of the college student, along with another man (Julian McMahon).
George C. Wolfe is directing from an adapted screenplay by Shana Feste and Jordan Roberts, based on author Michelle Wildgen's debut novel. Production begins later this week in Los Angeles.
