Fox Searchlight Pictures has released the first trailer for Youth, arriving in theaters December 4, which could give us an early look at a potential Academy Award contender. Rachel Weisz, Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel lead an all-star cast in this drama, which will go up against the horror-comedy Krampus when it hits theaters at the end of this year. The story centers on Fred and Mick, two old friends on vacation in an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps.

Fred (Michael Caine), a composer and conductor, is now retired. Mick (Harvey Keitel), a film director, is still working. They look with curiosity and tenderness on their children's confused lives, Mick's enthusiastic young writers, and the other hotel guests. While Fred has no plans to resume his musical career despite the urging of his loving daughter Lena (Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz), Mick is intent on finishing the screenplay for what may be his last important film for his muse Brenda (Academy Award winner Jane Fonda).

And where will inspiration lead their younger friend Jimmy (Paul Dano), an actor grasping to make sense of his next performance? From Paolo Sorrentino, the internationally renowned writer and director of Italy's Oscar-winning foreign language film The Great Beauty, comes Youth - a poignant tale of how we each find our own passion in life. Set against a sprawling landscape of unforgettable sights and intoxicating music, Youth asks if our most important and life-changing experiences can come at any time - even late - in life.

The supporting cast includes Neve Gachev, Tom Lipinski, Emilia Jones, Ed Stoppard and Madalina Diana Ghenea. Paolo Sorrentino directs from his own screenplay, with Carlotta Calori (This Must Be the Place), Francesca Cima (The Invisible Boy) and Nicola Giuliano (The Double Hour) producing. In addition to the new trailer, we also have a new poster for this upcoming drama.

Check out the trailer and poster below for Youth, and watch as stars Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel ponder their life's work. We'll have to wait and see how this film performs at the box office, but it certainly could fare well, given the star power involved.
