After seven seasons on NBC, the comedy Scrubs is moving to ABC for its eighth season. According to Variety, while this isn't necessarily the final year of the show, it will definitely be actor Zach Braff's last turn as the series' lead actor.

Braff stated that he would likely return as a guest star if the show continues on into a ninth season on ABC. He also hinted that he would like to direct a few of those future episodes. Showrunner Bill Lawrence stated, "The end of the show will be about J.D. leaving the hospital. When you leave, it's about holding on to your relationships."

Asked how long he thought the series would continue, Lawrence joked, "You can't kill this show. Next year we'll be on CBS." Most of the eighth season is already in the can, and will air sometime early next year.
