After a very long fourteen year wait, it appears as though Zoolander 2 is finally happening. Mayor of Rome, Ignazio Marino, has confirmed that the long-anticipated sequel will shoot in his country this year. International site Bad Taste brings this news, as Marino confirms that Zoolander 2 will shoot for 12 weeks in and around the famed Cinecittà Studios.

While things are said to kick off this spring, an exact start date was not mentioned. The Mayor has met with star Ben Stiller, who will be reprising his role as male model Derek Zoolander on what appears to be a European tour. About the production, Ignazio Marino stated:

"Rome returns to the center of the international destinations of great cinema!"

Justin Theroux co-wrote the Zoolander 2 screenplay with Ben Stiller, and will direct. Ben Stiller's wife Christine Taylor is confirmed to return as Derek's wife and mother of his children Matilda Jeffries, though it's not known where their relationship is at the start of this sequel. Both Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson are expect to return, but that has yet to be officially confirmed. Last year, newcomer Penélope Cruz joined the sequel, with Jonah Hill and supermodel Cara Delevingne (who will next be seen in Suicide Squad) rumored to be a part of the ensemble cast as well.
