A new Yellowstone prequel series is in the works at Paramount+ and some big names have been attached to the starring cast. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the new series, dubbed 1932, has tapped Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren for the show's main roles. From Yellowstone and 1883 creator Taylor Sheridan, the series will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in December with an exact date yet to be announced. The new show was ordered straight to series in February following the success of the previous shows in the franchise.

As the title would suggest, 1932 begins at another stage in the history of the Duttons. Given the time period, the series will explore pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression. As far as the characters Ford and Mirren will play, that information has not yet been revealed with full plot details still being kept under lock and key.

The new spinoff is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and Ben Richardson are executive producing.

While he has spent the majority of his career on the big screen, Ford has been expanding his resume with new roles on the smaller screen. He was recently cast in the comedy series Shrinking for Apple TV, a role that marks the first ongoing series role in a comedy for the actor. This doesn't mean he's finished with movie theaters as he can also be seen in the upcoming big-budget sequel Indiana Jones 5, which hits the big screen on June 30, 2023.

An acting veteran, Mirren was last seen in theaters last year when she made her Fast and Furious debut in the sequel F9. She will also play a villainous role in the upcoming superhero sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Mirren also debuted her TV series When Nature Calls with Helen Mirren last year and does voiceovers for the new Netflix animated series Human Resources. Previously, Mirren has garnered great acclaim with her work which includes an Oscar for The Queen and Emmys for Prime Suspect, The Passion of Ayn Rand, and Elizabeth I.
