20th Century Fox is gearing up to start production on the 24 movie in April 2012, which is when star Kiefer Sutherland will be available.

Screenwriter Mark Bomback (Unstoppable, The Wolverine) will have his draft of the script ready by the end of this year. The studio is currently eyeing five directors to take on this project, although it doesn't seem there is a front runner yet. Back in February, Kiefer Sutherland revealed director Tony Scott was interested in directing 24, but he is no longer attached to the project.

Little is known about the story line for 24, although writer Billy Ray's earlier draft of the script took Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer to Europe. It isn't known if those plot elements are still in place with Mark Bomback's script. Brian Grazer is producing for Imagine Entertainment.

It isn't known when the 24 movie will hit theaters yet.
