Blood-Disgusting has caught word that this year's 30 Days of Night movie will have accompanying spin-off short films, that will be viewable online:

Today B-D received word that Ghost House Pictures and FEARnet are teaming to bring you new short films based on one of the popular 30 Days of Night comics by Steven Niles. They will be released in conjunction with Columbia Pictures' 30 Days of Night, which hits theaters October 19.

The shorts will be helmed by Victor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill) and written by Ben Ketai.

The storyline is a spin-off from one of the characters in the graphic novel -- The series will follow George (character from the graphic novel) who helps track the same clan of vampires who eventually come to Barrow, Alaska. Shorts will capture his struggle in trying to acquire that information while being hunted by vampires through the streets of New Orleans.

These shorts are stand alone pieces created for FEARnet exclusively and not taken from David Slade's film to be released on October. 19.

The movie stars Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, Danny Huston and Ben Foster and is based on the Steve Niles graphic novel. In a sleepy, secluded Alaska town called Barrow, the sun sets and doesn't rise for over thirty consecutive days and nights. From the darkness, across the frozen wasteland, an evil will come that will bring the residents of Barrow to their kness. The only hope for the town is the Sheriff and Deputy, a husband and wife who are torn between their own survival and saving the town they love.
