Guardians of the Galaxy is set to have its trailer premiere tonight during Jimmy Kimmel Live!. But first, Marvel has released a 15-second teaser preview featuring the first footage from this Phase Two adventure. They have also released new hi-res versions of the three images that showed up yesterday in anticipation of this epic event.

We now have over 30 new images, culled from the preview, with an explanation of events, as they are likely to unfold in this saga, and the characters we'll get to know a little better tonight. Take a look.

The Guardians of the Galaxy

Meet the team. Here we see Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill), (Chris Pratt), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) alongside their starship Milano in three official photos from Marvel and Disney.

A child of the 80s, Peter Quill holds his Walkman very dear to his heart, as we'll come to learn leading up to the film's release in theaters. In the upcoming trailer, we'll see Quill suit-up as the savior of the universe, Star-Lord, who teams with the other guardians after stealing a precious orb of unknown origin and power.

Drax the Destroyer

Drax joins Star-Lord on this mission with his own personal agenda. He seeks revenge on Ronan the Accuser for the death of his family. We'll learn more about Drax's tattoos as the story unfolds on screen.

Gamora is the most dangerous assassin in the galaxy, and has some deep history with Thanos, whom we last saw at the end of Marvel's The Avengers. Like Drax, she also has distinctive tattoo markings that we will learn more about in the film.

A sentient tree and an anthropomorphic raccoon may become the biggest thing at the movies this summer, and they are working as a team to protect a precious orb being pursued by Ronan the Accuser. In the teaser, we see the two working together, with Rocket standing on Groot's back. It's the tag-team match-up Marvel fans have been waiting a very long time to see.

The Milano Starship

Star-Lord's personal spacecraft is its own character in this epic sci-fi battle, and its been called the 'Millennium Falcon' of the Marvel universe.

Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou)

In Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill comes in possession of a mysterious Orb wanted by many in the galaxy. Upon obtaining this highly coveted object, Quill is confronted by Korath, an ally of Ronan the Accuser. Star-Lord escapes, and is pursued across the universe by this Kree agent and former member of Starforce.

Nebula (Karen Gillan)


Nebula and Gamora have a very contentious relationship in Guardians of the Galaxy, and we can expect to see an epic battle between the two space women. Perhaps Thanos will step in to break it up?

Prison Station Kyln

Star-Lord is held in a prison station known as Kyln, where he meets the rest of his future team. Here, Quill has had his precious Walkman taken by one of the guards. We see Peter tazed in his attempts to retrieve it, as well as the start of a prison riot, which will eventually lead to Quill meeting up with Drax, Groot, Rocket and Gamora for the first time.
