Leave it to a western to gun down the competition... or lack thereof.

3:10 to Yuma was the easy winner this weekend, taking both the sales and rental crowns for the week ending January 13. There wasn't a whole lot of competition for the Russell Crowe/Christian Bale western, as it outsold last week's winner, Resident Evil: Extinction by a 4-to-1 margin.

The only other semblance of competition were the new releases Dragon Wars in fourth place, Death Sentence in fifth and Sunshine in ninth place in sales.

On the rental side, 3:10 to Yuma took in $10.8 million to top the rental biz, with last week's winner, War which took in $9.7 million in rental revenue. The other newbies didn't fare quite as well on the rental side, with Death Sentence in fifth, Dragon Wars taking 11th, and Sunshine taking 16th in rentals.

On the high-def side of the charts, 3:10 to Yuma took the Blu-Ray crown while The Kingdom stayed atop the HD DVD charts.
