Actress Mandy Moore has finalized a deal to star in Dimension Films' underwater thriller 47 Meters Down. Dimension acquired 47 Meters Down back in April 2014, but we haven't heard about any movement on the project until now. The plot has been compared to the sci-fi thriller Gravity, only in an underwater environment.

The story revolves around two sisters, Kate (Mandy Moore) and Lisa, who become trapped at the bottom of the ocean when a diving expedition to observe sharks goes horribly wrong. When the cable attaching the observation cage to the boat breaks and the cage sinks to the bottom of the ocean, the sisters must figure out a way to get back to safety battling injuries, lack of oxygen, and, worst of all, blood thirsty, great white sharks. No other cast members have been confirmed at this time.

British filmmaker Johannes Roberts (Storage 24) is directing from his own screenplay. Mark Lane and Jamie Harris are producing through their The Tea Shop and Film Company, although it isn't known when production is scheduled to take place. Mandy Moore most recently starred on Fox's short-lived drama series Red Band Society and the animated comedy series High School USA!. This will mark her first feature film role since 2012's Hotel Noir.
