After a 14-year break, Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty have shot their first scene together as Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh for the CW's new 90210, TV Guide's senior editor Will Keck reports exclusively in his debut column for the magazine, What the Keck?! (in the Aug. 25 issue of TV Guide; on newsstands Thursday, Aug. 21). So how was the reunion for the old rivals?

"It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be," Garth tells Keck. "I'm not much of a small talker, and I don't think she is either. I was a little nervous because I hadn't seen or talked to her in 14 years. Everyone was making it out to be such a big deal that I think we both fell prey to having that affect us."

Her real-life on-set fistfight with Doherty now ancient history, Garth is cautiously optimistic about their future. "I think it will be OK," she says. "We're both grown women, both professionals. Once we were working, it felt like a good fit."

She also admits she is disappointed that close pal Tori Spelling is missing out on the fun after quitting last week, reportedly over her costars' higher paychecks. "I know Shannen probably doesn't share the feelings that I have for Tori, but I love Tori like my sister," Garth revealed to Keck as she fought back tears. She also says she is encouraging fans to launch a "Bring Back Donna Martin" campaign.

Actor Ryan Eggold, who plays Kelly's new beau on the series, describes the encounter between the two women as "very interesting. Everybody was on pins and needles and sort of waiting to see how they'd react," he tells Keck. "They started off kind of tentative, but by the time we were five takes in, they were giggling and seemed to be reconnecting."
