Picture this: it's 1992, and you are about to go to the movie theater to see a new women’s sports movie about an all-women baseball team. The movie is none other than A League of Their Own starring Geena Davis and Tom Hanks. Cut back to today, now 30 years later, and a TV series is being released via Amazon Prime Video adapting the beloved original movie. Also called A League of Their Own, the TV series comprises eight episodes, and, according to Variety, was created by one of its stars, Abbi Jacobson, whom you might remember from Comedy Central's Broad City.
Season one of A League of Their Own drops on August 12, 2022, and is expected to be similar to the original story with a few new characters. The new TV series will hopefully earn as much success as the beloved film. Most of the cast mates are newer to acting, but have had experience within other TV series. Let’s take a closer look at the ensemble cast and other roles you might have seen them play.
Abbi Jacobson
Show creator Abbi Jacobson and main character Carson Shaw are one and the same. It was because of Jacobson that the upcoming series was produced. The actress is one of the most well-known names in the series, having already established herself in projects like the Netflix show Disenchantment, the Oscar-nominated movie The Mitchells vs the Machines, and Comedy Central’s Broad City.
Chanté Adams
Chanté Adams is a newer actress making her in A League of Their Own. Prior to her role as Max Chapman, you could find Adams in the film A Journal for Jordan, Voyagers, and the Netflix TV series Roxanne, where she played the titular character. In all of these roles, Adams was a leading lady whose presence commanded the scene, which we hope to see continue in her new role.
D’Arcy Carden
D'Arcy Carden will play Greta in A League of Their Own. You may recognize her from the TV series Barry or The Good Place. She also appeared in co-star Jacobson's series Broad City for a five-episode arc. Carden has also appeared in films such as Other People and Ride the Eagle.
Gbemisola Ikumelo

Newcomers like Gbemisola Ikumelo make up most of the new baseball team in A League of Their Own. Ikumelo has appeared in a few TV series and miniseries over the years, such as Temple, Death in Paradise, Roadkill, Famalam, Sex Education, and Broadchurch. She has also appeared in films like The Last Tree and The Power.
Roberta Colindrez
Roberta Colindrez will play Lupe Garcia in A League of Their Own. You may recognize her from either the 14-episode stint on the Starz TV series Vida, where she played Nico, or her 12-episode role on the HBO series The Deuce, where she played Irene.
Kelly McCormack
Prior to A League of Their Own, Kelly McCormack made her rounds within some popular films and TV shows. She has had small parts in movies like A Simple Favor and Play the Film, and roles in shows like 11.22.63, Damien, That’s My Dj, Ginny & Georgia, and Letterkenny. In the upcoming series, McCormack will play Jess McCready.
Priscilla Delgado
Priscilla Delgado's role in A League of Their Own as Esti will be the young actress' first English-speaking role.
Kate Berlant
Kate Berlant has already made a name for herself in comedic circles. She is an improv comedian who has turned her talents to the acting world. Though the actress' biggest role will come in A Leage of Their Own as Shirley Cohen, she has appeared in a few TV series in a one-episode character like Life & Beth and Space Force.
Melanie Field
Miss Heather Chandler herself, from the hit TV show Heathers, aka Melanie Field will be playing Jo De Luca in A League of Their Own. With Heathers being her most known project, Field has also appeared in the second season of the TV series You and The Alienist.
Dale Dickey

You may or may not recognize Dale Dickey's name, but you have most likely seen the actress before. Prior to getting the role of Beverly in A League of Their Own, she appeared in both TV series and movies, some as recent as Hulu's No Exit and Netflix's Unbelievable. She has also appeared in Leave No Trace, True Blood, Super 8, and My Name is Earl.
Nick Offerman
In the upcoming series, Nick Offerman will play a version of Tom Hanks' character from the original film, though his character's name will be Dave Porter. Offerman is certainly the biggest name attached to A League of Their Own, having starred in hit series like Devs, Pam & Tommy, and Parks and Rec.
Rosie O’Donnell
As the lone member from the original A League of Their Own movie, Rosie O'Donnell is back and, per EW, will appear in at least a few episodes of the TV series. In the original film, O'Donnell played third-baseman Doris Murphy, while in this series, she will play Vi. Not much is known yet about her character, but fans are excited to see her back. Outside the original film and TV show, you may best know the actress as Terk from Tarzan and from her hosting stint on The View.
