Lifetime TV's Meredith Wagner, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, Andrea Wong, President and CEO, and Susanne Daniels, president of entertainment, spoke recently about the network's upcoming season.

Andrea Wong was the force behind the success of the Emmy-winning Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, The Bachelor, and Dancing with the Stars.

Andrea Wong said, "As you know, we have the #1 and #2 networks for women in Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network. But we're also 3rd in primetime among over 70 ad-supported cable networks, and now I'm even more excited to build on that success. My hope is to infuse the Lifetime brand with an energy, a vibrancy, a relevance, and an optimism. What excited me about coming to Lifetime was really the opportunity to hyper focus on women, to, in effect, not only entertain them and provide a great escape for them, but to inform them, to empower them, to speak to them directly with a goal of ultimately forging an even deeper connection with them. We want to not only be relevant, but we want to be important to women. Fortunately, Army Wives was on deck to launch when I got here, and it serves as the perfect example of where this brand is going. This wonderful show really taps into that resonant theme of women supporting each other through all life's choices and challenges. It is that resonance that has made Army Wives, I'm happy to say, the highest-rated show in Lifetime's 23-year history and the # 1 new cable drama among women. But that's just the beginning."

She discussed the two newest shows, Side Order of Life and State of Mind which both have strong women in the lead roles and themes that empower women.

Susanne Daniels brought the hit show Army Wives to the network, which is the highest rated show in the history of Lifetime TV. The show has been picked up for another 18 episodes. Daniels also introduced a new series which is popular in Britain. How to Look Good Naked has an order of eight episodes for the coming season.

"In each of the eight episodes ordered, the show will take women of all different body types, who would rather be caught dead than with their clothes off, and guide them to newfound confidence," explained Ms. Daniels. "But we have something the Brits don't: that master of style and sass, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's Carson Kressley."

Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead is returning for a second season. "Lisa will be back for Season Two beginning October 12th at 9 p.m. We couldn't have predicted what a sensation Lisa would become, although maybe she could have. When Lisa participated in an online chat, we got the highest traffic in that one hour than we got in any other hour all year."

And America's Psychic Challenge, is another reality show ordered by the network. "Do you believe in psychics, or are you a skeptic? This show puts the skills of psychics to the test when they compete in a series of challenges to ultimately see whose clairvoyant abilities are the best."

Lifetime will continue its string of original movies which will feature Peter Gallagher and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Charles Dutton, James Denton, Molly Shannon, Rob Morrow and others.

In August, Jennifer Morrison stars in the Lifetime Original Movie event, The Murder of Princess Diana, a fictional account of the book by the same name. It's a story told through the eyes of a fictional journalist. The network will air the movie three nights in a row - August 25, 26, and 27.
