Tom Hanks is one of Hollywood's most universally beloved actors, bringing joy and heartfelt performances to almost every movie he does. But, unfortunately, audiences will have to wait for the old grump to come around in the official trailer for A Man Called Otto. "You think you have to do everything on your own, but guess what? No one can," Mariana Treviño says to Hanks, who plays the titular character, Otto.

The film follows Otto, a widower who doesn't get along with his neighbors, constantly making a fuss over the everyday things happening near his home. However, Otto's life is turned upside down when a new family moves in next door. A Man Called Otto comes from Marc Forster, the director behind a variety of films, including Stranger Than Fiction, The Kite Runner, and Quantum of Solace. The first official trailer from Sony Pictures Entertainment can be found below.

The official synopsis for A Man Called Otto reads: "Based on the comical and moving # 1 New York Times bestseller, A Man Called Otto tells the story of Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks), a grumpy widower who is very set in his ways. When a lively young family moves in next door, he meets his match in quick-witted and very pregnant Marisol, leading to an unlikely friendship that will turn his world upside-down. Experience a funny, heartwarming story about how some families come from the most unexpected places."

The film is based on the novel, A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, which was subsequently turned into a Swedish film of the same name. Mariana Treviño, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rachel Keller, and Juanita Jennings star alongside Hanks in the upcoming movie. A Man Called Otto arrives in theaters next year, with a release set for January 13, 2023.

Tom Hanks is sure to give a moving performance in A Man Called Otto, focusing on grief, guilt, and finding new friendships. The film recently received a delay that pushed the release into 2023, however, the film will still contend during the following awards season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, A Man Called Otto will debut in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles on Christmas Day, with the limited run allowing the film to be considered for the 2023 award push.

This could be yet another successful film for Hanks, who consistently seems to be at the peak of his career. The actor has six Oscar nominations, winning twice for his performance in Forrest Gump and Philadelphia. The actor has already starred in Elvis earlier this year as Colonel Tom Parker and in Disney's Pinocchio as Geppetto. Look to theaters on Jan. 13 for a moving performance by Hanks in A Man Called Otto. The poster, released by Sony Pictures, can be found below.
