Moment of Silence: Studio mogul and chairman Lew Wasserman, who ran Universal Pictures for nearly four decades, died Monday at 89 due to complications from a recent stroke. Our sincere condolences go out to his family.

Natalie Portman: The young actress, who is again surfing the wave of the Star Wars success, joins Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Giovanni Ribisi and Ray Winstone in director Anthony Minghella's Cold Mountain. The actors join a cast that includes Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger.

Hu/X-Men 2: Kelly Hu, fresh from the nearly $90 million dollar success of The Scorpion King, joins the cast of X2, as Anne. Anne is a villainous mutant with human emotions who is Striker's partner. Hu joins Alan Cumming (NightCrawler) and Aaron Stanford (Pyro) as new additions to the cast. The lead villain has yet to be cast. Hu will next be seen in Cradle 2 The Grave, opposite DMX.

J.LO: Columbia Pictures have snapped up the feature rights to internet comic-strip Shrink! for J. Lo to star in and produce through her Nuyorican Productions. Shrink!, in the vein of The Far Side, concerns a sexy female psychologist whose primary clientel are superheroes. Lopez will play the shrink, of course.
